If house price keep going up, then so do property tax revenues. Problem solved!
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

These things are all going to be paid for by taxpayers and local residents. They just aren't in the VANOC budget, though, so all is tickety-boo.

Well hooray for sound financial planning I say - I always figured the best way to budget is to have someone else pay for everything. Fortunately we'll all be so wealthy from real-estate we'll have no problem paying these bills.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

It's also all the stuff that ISNT in the VANOC budget, but is being paid for residents. If the MOT blows its budget on widening the Sea to Sky, and then will impose tolls on the twinned Port Mann, are those tolls an Olympic cost? If Richmond spends millions preparing the site for the skating oval, does that factor into how much is being spent on the Olympics? If there has to be an additional, perhaps, BILLION dollars in security arrangements implemented via the armed forces and various police forces, is that an Olympic cost?

Of course. These things are all going to be paid for by taxpayers and local residents.
