A mighty wind

Whether you rent or own, last night was a good one to have shelter. Heavy rain and wind up to 157 km per hour (!) battered this little seaside town, stress-testing our construction and leaving thousands without power (i’m guessing you’re not reading this if you’re one of those). There’s trees down everywhere, the skytrain was down in surrey and a belltower blew off a school house downtown. Looks like the worst of it is over, I just hope this doesn’t mean more turbidity.

This weekends forecast: slushy snow.

>> Some good bear news re. Canadian RE <<These kinds of news stories just crack me up. You get a drop of say $3500 and the thing has probably run up $100K, at least, and we're suppposed to get all excited about it. Hell, let's even call it a 'buyers market'.I refuse to get worked up about a few bucks knocked off the price in this outlandish pyramid scheme.

>>A couple of my neighbours were un lucky and lost a few shingles to the wind. That was a joke, right? We had our fence blown down, branches blew off our trees that were 6-8 inches round and landed all over the road and in the neighbours' yards. The roof blew off our storage shed. And your neighbours lost a few shingles? what bad luck, eh?

I think I saw a cow and a dog and a cat fly by my window. Or maybe it was just a very colourful tarp from a leaky condo.

I left Saskatchewan for milder weather and snow-free winters…and this year is making me think prairie weather would be a walk in the park!

i wanna be a cowboy and u can be my cowgirlDid a tree fall on your head, or are you just three sheets to the wind? This is the third windstorm in a week here, The wind was so heavy last night I moved my bed away from the window because I kept waking up thinking it was going to get blown in and cut me to bits.

Amazing what a good wind does for leaky condos….seems like alot of those ominous looking tarps disappeared over night.

The lions gate bridge is shut down as well – a tree fell down blocking the causeway. Lights are out all over downtown, traffic is very sluggish.
