shikko –

Do you know that using the "R" card holds no weight anymore in this city?

Do you know how we know it holds no weight anymore?

Hint – check out the votes for Dream Catcher's posts.

@Dreamcatcher:

Forth, there is tons of natural beauty – and people actually use it, unlike Vancouver. Seriously, when was the last time you saw Chinese cyclists, runners, snowboarders and hikers.

First, you still feel like you are in Canada instead of in Beijing.

The Chinese like the temperate climate, and certainly don’t want to pay to live in snow.

Do you know how we know you're a racist?

jjbink

Stick with RE people. You guys are clueless with what the Chinese prefer and what their lifestyles are. And trying to pretend you do, is just downright stupid.

@Dreamcatcher:

You really haven’t been out much. Head up to Whistler or go to the seawall.

Lol – Whistler! Good one! Whether its the winter or summer, the Chinese are no where to be found. They don't buy real estate up there, and they sure as hell don't ski or snowboard.

You might have confused the few Asians you saw in Whistler for Chinese, but they were actually Japanese and/or Korean.

The Chinese like the temperate climate, and certainly don't want to pay to live in snow.

In the electronic version of the Globe & Mail, just below the article "Foreign buyers buoy Vancouver housing" is the article titled "Younger families most snared by debt"

The first sentence of the article quotes: Debt is the slavery of the free, the Syrian writer Publilius Syrus said all the way back in the 1st century B.C.

Sounds parasitic. How does the host benefit?

@pricedoutfornow:

You ever watch the TLC show called The Lottery Changed My Life?

Even the guys winning $3million bucks buys a "mansion" for about $350K. What's wrong with us?

@Best place on meth:

My parents always thought camping was stupid and can't understand why caucasians like it.

They say to me: you got a perfectly nice home to live it,

now why the hell would you want to sleep outside?

>>>Very strange weekly numbers from Agent Will’s site. There is a steep drop in sales as bears expected. But, at the same time, a steep drop in new listings.<<<

4 day week, nothing to see here.

@Ray Lin:

>>>Furthermore, many Chinese simply see Canada as a vacation home, allowing them to come for a couple of months every year and enjoy Canada’s great outdoors after a year of hard work in China.<<<

That's odd, I didn't know the Chinese loved the great outdoors.

Yesterday is the last time I saw a Chinese hiker, on the Lynn peak trail

Sorry to disappoint Gary, but taking a picture from the tour base at the base of the trail does not constitute "hiking."

Very strange weekly numbers from Agent Will's site. There is a steep drop in sales as bears expected. But, at the same time, a steep drop in new listings.

All this is happening in the middle of the Spring real estate market. Something different is happening, we just don't know what yet.

Vancouver Sucks! Chicago in seven!!

My SO came back from a family trip to California, going on and on about a cousin's new house. "Oh! It's a mansion! It's got a pool, basketball court, the bathroom is bigger than our apartment! He must have paid 2 or 3 million for it!"

Well, I said. Let's look it up on Zillow. Here it is along with the sale price. $635k (Feb 2006 was $1.2million).

Wake up Vancouverites. It WILL happen here!

Gary, they were Japanese not Chinese. Chinese you will find in the malls and in the restaurants never outdoors unless you consider Stanley Park the great outdoors.

My prize for the most idiotic response goes to the Green Party candidate:

Victoria Green candidate Jared Giesbrecht agreed on the need for all levels of government to work together and promoted his party’s support for a national housing strategy that includes significant tax incentives for buyers, developers and business.

Just what we need, more taxpayers’ money thrown at the market to make prices even higher and put more money in developers’ pockets and put buyers deeper in debt.

We had that in the 1980's did we not..

It was caled the MURB program.

That did not end well

Just what we need, more taxpayers' money thrown at the market to make prices even higher and put more money in developers' pockets and put buyers deeper in debt. Not that any of the other politicos said anything useful. And look at this nonsense from the editorial writer: We wanted someone to be really bold and talk about the possibility of removing the land value from the whole HST equation for newly constructed homes, given that in many cases, HST will have been paid on the land prior to… Read more »
