BBB – Why is it too late to buy? Is there a shortage of inventory?

Prices are going down monthly.

@Not much of a name…

“doesn’t paint a rosy picture”

it also doesn’t paint a picture of doom and gloom. face reality, this is the new normal. you’re priced out forever.

EVERYONE TOLD YOU TO BUY AND NOW IT’S TOO LATE.

be happy renting cause you’ll never own unless you want to commute from langley ( or Port Moody if you are a poor but snobby white person ).

YOU SAY YOU ARE HAPPY RENTING, BUT IF THAT WAS REALLY TRUE WHY ARE YOU OBSESSED WITH PRICES?

i know the truth, you all wish you were owners. you had your chance. optimistic people got in, grumpasauruses missed the boat.

@BBB

Looking at the YOY declines on a monthly basis going back to April of last year doesn’t paint a rosy picture. See if you can spot the trend.

Apr 2012 – +3.7%
May 2012 – +3.3%
Jun 2012 – +1.7%
Jul 2012 – +0.6%
Aug 2012 – -0.5%
Sep 2012 – -0.8%
Oct 2012 – -0.8%
Nov 2012 – -1.7%
Dec 2012 – -2.3%
Jan 2013 – -2.8%
Feb 2012 – -3.1%
Mar 2013 – -3.9%
Apr 2013 – -3.9%

You forgot to mention that HPI is down 3.9% YOY. Is there a reason for that?

@BBB

Isn’t HPI going up in the spring normal? It’s not new.

Vancouver home resales down 6.1 per cent April from year ago TARA PERKINS 12:43 EST Thursday, May 02, 2013 Sales of existing homes in Greater Vancouver fell 6.1 per cent in April compared to a year ago, but were up 11.9 per cent from March’s level, the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver said Thursday. The number of homes that changed hands over the Multiple Listing Service this April was the lowest in the region since 2001. “While the number of home sales remains below average, properties that are priced right are selling and we’re seeing greater balance between buyer demand and the number of homes listed for sale,” Sandra Wyant, president of the local real estate board, said in a press release. “This is having a steadying influence on home prices in the region.” The MLS Home Price Index… Read more »

Ooops, that should have been “turpitude”.

Apparently, stopping at a red light on an empty road at 5:00am and not waiting for it to turn green is a much more important indicator of moral terpitude than obstructing police investigations into NDP corruption, forging documents or stealing service from Skytrain. Go figure!

The issue of over-priced housing didn’t come up once in the debate. Of course, they did talk about the more important issue of running red lights at 5AM.

It seems like realtors have a lot of free time these days.
They are visiting this website more often than bears.
IMHO it’s a good sign for us, bears.
