@Westside Realtor:

If the upper end of the market is doing so poorly, why are all these white/beige tile/fake stone Asian “luxury” mansions still selling in my area (Quilchena) for $4.5 – 5.5 Million? And why are even more being built? Almost every older house that’s been sold in this area has been purchased by an investor/builder,usually for more than $2 million, and then demolished to build yet another one of these crap-shacks. So who’s buying???

COPE vote would have gone to NPA? Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
Would have been a landslide for chicken man. CoV politics is an island of freaks in a sea of normality. Have you seen COPE’s website? Loser circus. None of them have ever had a real job.

Nimbys win Van election while nimbys lose Van election. Life continues the same. No neighbourhoods will change. Home prices will rise forever.

Thank you Meena Wong for splitting the vote. If you didn’t run, surely Lapointe would have won.

Thank you the uneducated people of Vancouver. Next year, make sure you split the NDP/Liberal votes. Make sure Harper gets in.

Hahaha.

Robertson will be rejected as Mayor of Vancouver!!!

Expect:

More bike lanes!

The viaducts will be torn down. No easy car access from Hwy #1 into downtown Vancouver anymore!

HAM will continue to be welcome!!

Surrey lots going up in value. Buy now as SFD will become a rarity in Surrey. Mark my words. SFD will be permanently be detached from local incomes.

Light Rail with thousands of townhome units coming to surrey. All townhome. Not SFD.

For nostalgia’s sake, 1968 city issues, and Mayor”s response;

1968 CBC interview of Vancouver Mayor Tom Campbell about the Hippies
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xoc347KjBk0

“Lazy louts, parasites on the community, scum community, scum always comes to the top”
Hot dang, haven’t heard a mayor talk like before.

Of course, now the hippies are all homeowners who don’t want to see their home values drop.

Breaking News:

Incumbent Mayor Gregor Robertson has been voted out in the Vancouver City election, the new mayor elect is a relatively unknown accordion musician Geoff Berner, who has pledged to reduce the $10,000 fine for being poor and to increase the flow of vodka. The market is shit I tell you. Although I have no numbers to back it up, my little brain tells me so. I think if I keep posting what I think and a hundred people read my stuff, it will crash the market. So I must continue because I’m getting voted up by readers with even a smaller brain.

The vibe across the land is a subtle softening of the market. It’s toast. Blah blah blah

No. Just waiting in line to vote. You can discuss the rest. This isn’t a communist totalitarian dictatorship.

“Who plans for peak burst capacity? Any business you know of? They’re going bankrupt soon.”

I went to the Canucks game last night. They seem to get everyone in without waiting in line for more than a minute. Thats over 18000 people within 30 minutes. The Grey Cup will do the same with 60000 people in 2 weeks. No, I don’t think they are going bankrupt soon. If they ran things like the polling stations then yes they would be bankrupt.

Got it. Anything we have in Canada that can be viewed as better than what a communist totalitarian dictatorship offers should not be discussed at all.

No line ups to vote in the People’s Republic of China, Saudi Arabia, North Korea. No inconvenience of having to wait in line.

Freedom has a price and you have to work for it. It is not handed to you with no inconvenience. Stop whining.

“The city has limited resources.”

As opposed to which entity that has unlimited resources?

You must be a government worker.

“Some of us work for a living and have a limited schedule. If you ran a business and wanted more people to come into the business would you consider a 1 hour line up as a possible barrier to more customers? Of course you would. Why can’t the elections people figure this out?” This conversation is stupid. No other way to put it. The city has limited resources. They already run the poll centres 12 hours a day (8 to 8) for 10 days. Thousands of voters who work for a living and have limited schedules managed to find 15 minutes to vote at some point during this time. The complete schedule was on your voter registration card. Who plans for peak burst capacity? Any business you know of? They’re going bankrupt soon. Right, no one. They just cope the… Read more »

One of my colleagues returned from a trip to China (family visit/marketing trip).

She said that the anxiety many people there are feeling about the local RE market (which is in decline (statistically speaking)) and that the fear/concern is palpable.

She also said that in no shape or form is China booming at the moment and the type of unbridled optimism about the future is waning perceptibly.

Fyi.

Oh yeah, the upper end of the market is shit right now and getting worse.

“If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Or at least end up waiting in line for an hour.” @41: Some of us work for a living and have a limited schedule. My crystal ball didn’t tell me how long the line would be when I went to vote with the time I had. The point is people do walk away due to the line. I watched 3 out of 4 people who came in turn around and leave. Then the discussion after the election is why so few voted. They do not even have enough capacity for everyone to vote. If you ran a business and wanted more people to come into the business would you consider a 1 hour line up as a possible barrier to more customers? Of course you would. Why can’t the elections people… Read more »

@36 Bye Bye Vision

Voting has been open for 10 days.

“If I didn’t hate Vision so bad I would have walked away too. And they can’t figure out why so many people don’t vote?”

If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Or at least end up waiting in line for an hour.
