My feeling is Trump and US politics are more to blame for the recent market turmoil than QT is. QT has been happening for over a year now and the markets for the most part have been able to absorb it. But trade wars with China, government shutdowns, Trump threatening to fire Powell, and whatever else, have taken a toll on confidence.

In mid-December, Vancouver City Council passed a motion to ask the province to rescind the tax after dozens of homeowners protested at city hall and told council how the tax would affect their ability to use their home equity to fund their retirement or business.
Somerville agreed with Sullivan that the provincial surcharge was a “wealth tax.” But he equated the enormous run-up in home equity over the past few years to “gold dropped on you from the sky.”
This problem would never exist if governments have banned Chinese to go amok on RE in the past 25 years. The city would remain yet another livable, mid-size, decent western city otherwise, we got a monster.
The most a 0.2 to 0.4% tax will have on the property values of $3 mil plus homes is the value of the tax. Nothing in the scheme of things. Adds up to about 2% of a $7 million home over 10 years. Nothing for HAM. Less than a RE commision on a flip.
The CoV is agaist the tax for two reasons. First it cuts into their future property tax revenue stream and the CoV gets none of it. Second politically they may as well be on record as opposed since it is only CoV civic voters who are getting taxed.

Here’s the actual headline:
“7-year-old migrant girl taken into Border Patrol custody dies of dehydration, exhaustion”
It doesn’t “suggest” anything, it simply states the facts.
1. She was 7.
2. She was taken into custody.
3. She died of dehydration, exhaustion.

You are even too dumb to understand how they are manipulating you. The headline suggests it was the border partol’s fault she died. The media narrative over this death was that somehow it was the border partol’s fault. The media should have been praising the border partol like they would a first responder for almost saving this girls life (as the girls father did) and condoned the left who encourage and enable this dangerous trek across the border by desperate people. A wall would have provided enough discouragement to have prevented this tragic death. Trump wants orderly legal immigration safely through a border crossing. But you will never hear that from the fake news.

Of course they’re leading the reader to believe Border Patrol was responsible for her death.
It would have been just as irresponsible if the headline had been spun in the opposite direction, for example.
“7 year old migrant girl forced by parents to attempt dangerous, illegal border crossing dies of dehydration, exhaustion”.
Although the alternative headline would actually been closer to accurate reporting.

So you’re also just restating the original claim? If you want to assert that the media is fake you probably should at least attempt an explanation. Both you and YVR seem desperate to change the subject, which is understandable. Are you really declaring the entire article fake because you have doubts over just the headline? There is no implication of blame in the headline – the cause of death is clearly front and center, and there’s not the slightest hint that the CBP were responsible for either her exhaustion or her dehydration. The fact that she was in custody is an unavoidable and relevant aspect of the story. To think otherwise is like saying that a “man dies in prison” headline somehow blames the guards.
