China has a major branding problem and they don’t realize it yet. The attitude of the West towards China has shifted dramatically in 2018. They underestimate how quickly the mood can change and what those implications are. It’s no different than Japan and Pearl Harbour. We’re still a couple steps from a tipping point, but it will just take one or two more events. I’m seeing that the far right and far left have a shared negative opinion of China, so it won’t take much to get a plurality of people on-board with measures to push back hard against them.

That said, I think a trade deal is likely going to occur in a few months, but if it doesn’t, then I think we’re headed down an anti-China road.

Dave, there will not be any trade deal and no Pearl Harbour but everything points toward creating two distinctive economic, technological cold war type blocks. Huawei and more precisely 5G affair is all about that. Pulling from Syria is all about that. New international bank payment systems are about that.
Europe & Africa in terms of market and resource base are up for the grabs between these two blocks.

A diplomatic crisis is brewing about this. I think it’s likely China will start snatching more Canadians in retaliation and Canada’s only recourse would be imposing trade sanctions or trying to get the UN to do something about it. Unless the USA’s case against Meng is extremely weak she will likely be extradited at some point. Then Canadians in China will be even more at-risk than they are now.

patriotz

” Unless the USA’s case against Meng is extremely weak she will likely be extradited at some point.”

The US case has been greatly weakened by Trump saying he’s willing to use her as a bargaining chip for trade negotiations. That’s an argument that the charges (which have not been formally filed in Canada yet) are politically motivated and that’s legal grounds for refusing extradition.

It was dumb to thin ISIS could be defeated. ISIS is all but defeated.

It was dumb to think NAFTA could be renegotiated giving the US a better deal> Trudeau got his lunch money taken.

Over 24 hours, and the outage map has areas in the LM without anyone even assigned yet.
Not good in my opinion….24 hours is the maximum in my opinion especially when it comes to the elderly trying

Have there been cutbacks/changes in their operations?

l Events to look out for in new year:

1) Will BC Election be called?

—Plecas gets kicked out/resigns?
—Will we get a Ridesharing revote?
—What strategy (if any) can the Greens employ now?
—What will the Liberal Platform be?
—Does the NDP finally start its ‘bold’ action on housing?

2) Does Trudeau win again? And increase immigration?

3) Interest rates topped out?

4) China Relations.

5) Will the Globalists cause a recession in the USA to take it Trump?

It is nothing to do with being ready or competence. It is about being politically correct and scared of the media. CRA reports from 20 years ago show they knew of Chinese tax evasion and they did nothing because they thought it would be viewed as racist. The fake news media would be all over any government organization that goes after minorities. They get a pass because the far left has taken over our media and everyone is scared of them. That is until Trump. Hopefully other politicians will take notice as Trump exposes the fraudulent media and proves you can take them on and win.

It’s really the sort of level of argument you’d expect from a schoolchild (just like challenging somebody to an IQ test). But his dumb supporters lap it up, despite him having a dismal record of being truthful himself.

The CRA will obviously pursue any cases where they have grounds to do so. But of course targeting minorities on the basis of ethnicity alone would be racist. Fear of the media doesn’t come into the equation. You just made that up. Nobody is above the law.

That there’s no present evidence of collusion is also the position of the media. Or does the fact they’ve reported on the criminal convictions of people close to the president make them “fake news” just because it’s not particularly flattering to him? Just tonight he tweeted that the media is fake sinply because they reported a fact (McGurk’s resignation). His defence? He “doesn’t know him” and “Obama hired him”. How exactly does that make the reporting of the event fake? It’s in the public interest. He’s also tonight claiming that any other president bringing troops home would be praised, which is simply not true. No president who acts on gut feeling as opposed to advice of better-qualified experts around them would be applauded for such a decision. Non event, Other than a jab by an Obama appointee who should have been fired already. Just more proof the left is about politics and not about helping the USA. Good riddance. He was as useless as the trained chimp who hired him. As far as the better qualified experts. The experts record in the middle east is dismal. Then add to that Obama oversaw the creation ISIS. Then Obama stated it would take generations to defeat ISIS. Bring in Trump and ISIS is defeated in less than 2 years. We knew McGurk was leaving in February and every article I read also points this out. The fact wasn’t omitted or understated. It was right there. So how does this make the media fake? The Gulf War was far more successful than the defeat of ISIS but regardless I don’t believe Trump is being crticized by the media for keeping his promise, but the manner in which he did it. If he’s dumb enough to think he knows better than his generals, despite never serving in the military due to heel spurs, then he’s free to run his administration that way. Do you think Obama took his generals advice when he pulled all the troops out of Iraq? Nope. Do you think he took their advice when he didn’t respond to the chemical weapon attacks in Syria? Nope. Do you think he took their advice when he did nothing when Putin took Crimea? Nope. Obama had 4 separate Secretary of Defenses over 8 years. That is an average of 2 years each. So far Trump will have had 1 and he will be leaving after 2.16 years. Longer than the average Obama guy. Did you hear the media report that or freak out over any of the above with Obama in the past? Nope. That is what media bias is. It is putting forward a narrative. Obama good, Trump bad. No matter what. That is what fake new is all about.

In any event it is not illegal to receive dirt on a political opponent and is quite normal. On the other hand Hillary hired a foreign spy to get made up dirt from Russia on Trump. “The tension may prove even more consequential in 2019 now that the European Central Bank is stopping — though not yet unwinding — asset purchases. Bank of America Corp. analysts say liquidity from the developed world’s four major central banks will contract by $200 billion next year, driving volatility in the riskier markets that thrived under quantitative easing.”

“How Long Will The Fed’s Reverse-Quantitative Easing Last?”, Forbes

https://www.forbes.com/sites/investor/2018/12/11/how-long-will-the-feds-reverse-quantitative-easing-last/#3cc3b0c835a9

“At the risk of sounding like a broken record, the main drag on markets is not the rolling narrative of politics, it is the money flow of central banks and in particular the Federal Reserve.”

“It is no coincidence that this process started in earnest this January and coincides with the U.S. stock markets going into cardiac arrest or at least changing its never-ending upward trend into a serious of vicious slumps and rallies. The rest of the world who have bathed in cheap dollar finance are especially suffering from this credit ‘cold turkey’ and markets and economies all over the world are suffering the beginnings of an economic winter.”

Follow-up comment on the failed PR referendum. I think there should be another referendum, as unpalatable as that sounds, but this time not get greedy…with the only option being whether or not you want to add the option of having both a 1st and 2nd choice when voting for candidates. This would obviously eliminate the current issue of vote splitting. This would be very easy for Oracle’s stupid minions to understand and it’s hard to imagine anybody not wanting this option other than the anti-democratic Libs. The corrupt Liberal party should not be able to destroy this province because of bad/good luck being the one party that doesn’t need to worry about vote splitting.

There will be no referendums on BC electoral reform in the next 20 years. The NDP blew it. It’s over. FFS it has failed 3 times already. The only thing that beats that is the NDP themselves who have lost 5 elections in a row.

I’m laughing at the minions who think the NDP is dissapointed at the result of the vote.

People get the government they deserve.

I think it’s done for awhile.

Also, the Greens will hold their nose and cooperate with Horgan because otherwise they will be toast. It behooves them to play ball with the Government for now…

No election for quite awhile, I’m thinking….

Also, after the spanking the Premier just took on PR – which he personally campaigned for – I wonder if he will delay the by-election in Nanaimo for awhile just to play it safe and let the political temperature cool down. a bit first..?

He has six months to call the by-election….about 4 months left.

“about 4 months left.”

Five months and a week – Krog resigned on Nov 30. I think they will want to fill the seat before the budget though.

I thought he resigned in October to run municipally….Nanaimo election was Oct 20th.

…my mistake.

Ya, pretty much. Can’t risk the government on Plecas. Better to lose Nanaimo and get an election. Or if Libs win, they take over because Plecas stays in his job.

NDP wanted PR to fail.

If Greens want to remain relevant, they should try to act like an independent party now.

They won’t continue to prop up the NDP. It’s suicide unless they get things done.

NDP doesn’t want another vote. Trust me on this.

Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer says he would not pursue a free trade deal with China if he were prime minister.

“We don’t have the same types of systems, we don’t see the transparency and accountability in the Chinese economy. We know there is a lot of state owned enterprises,” Scheer said during an episode of CTV’s Question Period airing Sunday. “We’re a long way from talking about a free trade deal.”

Huawei faces new setbacks in Europe as security questions, political tensions continue

The U.S. dispute with China over a ban on tech giant Huawei is spilling over to Europe, the company’s biggest foreign market, where some countries are also starting to shun its network systems over data security concerns. Some European governments and telecom companies are following the U.S.’s lead in questioning whether using Huawei for vital infrastructure for mobile networks could leave them exposed to snooping by the Chinese government.

Meanwhile Trudeau throws his support to the Chinese criminal organization and says decision on whether to ban Huawei technology from 5G network should not be political.

As 2018 comes to a close, it’s time to review the year’s worst cases of media misquotes, misleading narratives, major corrections and straight-up fake news.

While last year’s fake reporting largely occurred during the media’s relentless pursuit to prove Russian collusion, this year’s list is much more varied. However, some themes emerged: stories about then-Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and the U.S. border were routinely flagged for misinformation.

Without further ado, here is the list of 2018’s worst examples of fake news:

All of crabmans most trusted sources are represented.

All I can see is factually correct statements. As usual the far left can’t debate the facts. You avoid the debate and resort to name calling. Maybe you can tell us how each of those 34 fake news stories were in fact correct and not fake? Nope can’t do that. It is easier to call everyone a racist just like those fake news networks do. Sad how far the left has fallen. No ideas, just name calling and false accusations is all you have.

Ok, fine. I’ll walk you through the first one. Which, I assume, they feel is their strongest.

1. WAPO BLAMES BORDER PATROL FOR DEATH OF 7-YEAR-OLD MIGRANT

“Despite WaPo’s misleading headline suggesting border patrol was to blame for the girl’s death”

Here’s the actual headline:

“7-year-old migrant girl taken into Border Patrol custody dies of dehydration, exhaustion”

It doesn’t “suggest” anything, it simply states the facts.
1. She was 7.
2. She was taken into custody.
3. She died of dehydration, exhaustion.

Looking forward to your apology. #Sarcasm

You are even too dumb to understand how they are manipulating you. The headline suggests it was the border partol’s fault she died. The media narrative over this death was that somehow it was the border partol’s fault. The media should have been praising the border partol like they would a first responder for almost saving this girls life (as the girls father did) and condoned the left who encourage and enable this dangerous trek across the border by desperate people. A wall would have provided enough discouragement to have prevented this tragic death. Trump wants orderly legal immigration safely through a border crossing. But you will never hear that from the fake news.

So your rebuttal is to restate your original assertion and then try and divert the topic? How tiring. The headline implied nothing. What would your headline have said had you written it?

Perhaps you could also explain what’s wrong with this story, after all it is radical left wing propaganda:

“7-year-old migrant girl taken into Border Patrol custody dies of dehydration, exhaustion”

Of course they’re leading the reader to believe Border Patrol was responsible for her death.

It would have been just as irresponsible if the headline had been spun in the opposite direction, for example.

“7 year old migrant girl forced by parents to attempt dangerous, illegal border crossing dies of dehydration, exhaustion”.

Although the alternative headline would actually been closer to accurate reporting.

False flag on meth reveals his true colours. The blame belongs to the parents trying for a better life and a shot at the American Dream. I guess it was ok when white people did it during the European shithole of the 1940s, but now that brown people are doing it, it has to stop?

Seeking asylum isn’t illegal. But the racist-in-chief is blocking asylum seekers and forcing them to cross illegally.

“I guess it was ok when white people did it during the European shithole of the 1940s, but now that brown people are doing it, it has to stop?”

Those people came in legally, today they try to jump the queue. Also, why did these people reject Mexico’s offer of asylum?

Another race baiter steps forward.

So you’re also just restating the original claim? If you want to assert that the media is fake you probably should at least attempt an explanation. Both you and YVR seem desperate to change the subject, which is understandable. Are you really declaring the entire article fake because you have doubts over just the headline? There is no implication of blame in the headline – the cause of death is clearly front and center, and there’s not the slightest hint that the CBP were responsible for either her exhaustion or her dehydration. The fact that she was in custody is an unavoidable and relevant aspect of the story. To think otherwise is like saying that a “man dies in prison” headline somehow blames the guards. It’s particularly amusing given that “you don’t understand the language!” is a pathetic war cry… Read more »

“the Daily Caller has never posted anything remotely fake”

Maybe they have. But that would just reinforce the news is fake would it not? Does the daily caller does not try to pretend it is a neutral news organization now does it? CNN, NBC, CBS, WP, NYT all do. All fake left wing propaganda news outlets. At least the right wing slanted outlets don’t pretend to be news when they are reporting opinion. Is Don Lemon really a news anchor? According to CNN he is. He is a radical alt left white hating racist with TDS.

“Is Don Lemon really a news anchor? ”

He’s an angry, bitter clown who spouts anti-Trump propaganda every minute he’s on air.

By CNN standards, that is a news anchor.
