Vancouver Sales hit 18 Year low

If you were hoping 2019 would kick off with a booming real estate market… well, it’s not going so well.

“After three or four years of a very robust market and escalating prices, this certainly seemed to be a year of transition. We went from more of a sellers’ market, to a balanced market, and now — a buyers’ market.”

The drop in benchmark price for a detached home accompanied a drastic slump in sales, year-over-year.

The total number of homes sold across Metro Vancouver in 2018 dropped 31.6 percent from 2017, with 24,619 transactions.

That’s the lowest number recorded in the region since 2000, and 25 percent below its 10-year average.

chinese leadership is living in their own delusional world.

Can’t make this up: China invites foreign journalists into internment camps in Xinjiang to hear detainees sing English rendition of “If You’re Happy and You Know It, Clap Your Hands.”

Yes we know the cold war with the Russia is over. Reagan took care of them. Please let CNN know. There is a new communist regime we need to destroy.

The Communist Party of China (CPC), also referred to as the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), is the founding and ruling political party of the People’s Republic of China.

While I support the pipeline protesters taking to the streets in anger over the RCMP steamrolling natives on their own land so that Alberta can sell their shit to our chinese enemies like a bunch of traitors, I wonder why none of them have bothered to protest outside embassies and consulates belonging to those evil scumbags who kidnap Canadian citizens.

The consulate that should be hit the hardest with outraged citizens armed with signs, banners, toilet paper, egg rolls and rocks bearing the image of Dogface is the one located at 999 W Broadway #250, Vancouver, BC V5Z 1K3, free parking in the rear.

Canada’s housing market is slowly but surely imploding, and Canadians are more exposed than the US was in 2008

The whole housing shitshow in the past 20 years was actually a nasty, pervy intercourse between Canadian politicians and Chinese greedy primitives the rest are collateral winners and losers.

“The original sin was allowing Canada’s cities to become speculative vehicles for global criminals looking to stash their capital outside of the states they’d helped loot into near-collapse. Then, to allow Canadians to bid against the looters, the banks loosened up lending rules, larding Canadians with unsustainable debt — and driving up housing prices, attracting more offshore speculators, requiring even more cheap debt for the Canadians who actually lived in the cities (lather, rinse, repeat).”

300 volunteers need about 14,000 signatures. Going door to door, that’s less than 50 signatures each. That’s about 20 households each.

I think there is a good chance it will happen but it’s worth keeping in mind that the winner in that riding typically only gets about 10,000 votes. So, where are the extra 4,000 votes going to come from? NDP and Green voters won’t be signing the recall form. 40% is a very high threshold to get over… you basically need 80-90% of registered right-of-centre voters to sign the form in order to pass. I do think it’s possible though with proper organization and enough people. Voters hate nothing more than being screwed over this way. The guy took the Speaker job for purely personal reasons and enable the opposing government to take power against the wishes of the riding. That’s brutal. This wasn’t a case of leaving a party for ethical and some bigger reason… it was purely about… Read more »

Off topic for the NO COLLUSION crowd. Yesterday, in poorly redacted filings from Manafort’s lawyers, we learned that Trump’s campaign manager was sharing polling data with Russian Intelligence at a secret meeting in Madrid. Which he lied about. Lock them up!!

Then why has nobody been charged with Russian collusion yet? ‘Fraser Valley Condo Prices Slide 7.7% since June”, Vancouver Condo Guide

https://vancitycondoguide.com/fraser-valley-condo-prices-slide-7-7-since-june/

“The Fraser Valley condo market has come to a screeching halt. The sales to actives ratio has plummeted from 80% in February down to just 18% in December.”

“Since prices topped out earlier in the Spring, all price metrics are now showing a decline from the peak. The average sales price has registered a 10.5% drop, the median by 9.9%, the average price per square foot by 8.5% and the smoothed out MLS benchmark price (lagging indicator) suggests a 7.7% price decline since June.”

if you read one link i post this year read this one. china sees it’s self as the world’s only sovereign state. this explains why china expects chinese in canada (princess meng meng) to be exempted from canadian laws. this explains why chinese around the world seek to create isolated parallel societies that exploit the host nations. it explains why SOME chinese-canadians are more loyal to china than canada despite being born here and perhaps being here for generations.

i believe that a philosophy of chinese supremacy exists and it is the greatest danger the world currently faces.

i’ve heard chinese in canada talk about how Trump won’t be able to do anything about china because “chinese are too smart”.

i see posters on the internet thrown into rages at the suggestion when people bring up fentynal china killing tens of thousands of n. americans every year. how dare we criticize our superiors?

i see chinese embassies demand apologies when a hotel in sweeden throws out unruly chinese guests, when a chinese news presenter slaps a UK campaign worker, and take hostages when canada dares enforces it’s own laws on chinese citizens on canadian soil.

The problem is not so much about the locust thinking they are superior. Everyone knows they are not. The problem is people like Trudeau who bow down to them and treat them like they are superior. The Chinese are like dogs they sense fear and attack. That is why Trudeau is always at the losing end of everything. The Chinese know he is a wimp who can be manipulated. The Chinese respect power. That is why they respect Trump and will conform to Trumps demands.

“Not only is the RCMP lacking the leadership direction and human resources to investigate such cases, but prosecution services lack the employees needed to vet evidence, and Canadian judges are not trained to handle highly technical money laundering cases, one expert on E-Pirate said.”

This is a clear message that Canada welcomes capable international scumbags and criminals at all levels because they can unobstructedly practice their businesses and develop careers. They will also get all required assistance and privileged treatment. The government should rise immigration quotes and cancel visas but before everything apologize to prominent individuals for bothering them with past investigations.

you’re right. these comments play very badly internationally. but i wonder if they work well at home? is china’s leadership desperately using inflammatory and extreme language to gain favour of china’s masses?

china’s economy is slowing. it seems very quickly. i’m hearing their massive international infrastructure program, the belt and road initiative is a boondoggle.

they’ve managed to antagonize the world’s only super power who they have no hope of defeating economically, politically, militarily, or culturally.

the leadership must be feeling the pressure from all these missteps. discontent must be growing. it’s easy to say a few words to stoke the public’s nationalistic and victim complex feelings.

if it works they’ve bought some time. if it doesn’t work they may have to take more extreme actions. manufacture an international crisis. they’ll do anything to hold on to their power.

The house already brought a bill forward in support of the border wall funding at the end of 2018. The bill is still there in waiting. It is the senate which is the hold up which requires 60 votes which the republicans never had. The republicans hold more seats this year than last. What you are seeing is the democratic party with no ideas and no policy other than to obstruct Trumps agenda. Hilary ran on no ideas but the anti-Trump rhetoric and lost. It won’t work next election either. Trump knows that and is setting up the next election.

Shut It Down Already (original)

Wouldn’t an artful dealmaker have ensured those 60 senate votes by negotiating with the 8 democrats required to make that happen? Wasn’t that the entire intent of the 60 vote rule? Compromise and negotiation? I suppose some might just see it as an obstacle or inconvenience but this is the way the government was designed.

You’d think he’d have played a better hand for his #1 promise. We’ll see if his own party fields candidates against him in 2020.

The number of seniors in B.C. who deferred their property taxes in 2017-18 has grown by 53 per cent in four years, according to a report by seniors advocate Isobel Mackenzie . Last year, 57,305 seniors deferred their property tax, an increase of 13,179, or 21 per cent compared with 2016-17. The total amount of property tax deferred last year was $208.8 million. Mackenzie described the increase in property tax deferral as “dramatic.” She pointed out that 81 per cent of seniors are homeowners. Mackenzie believes the money saved by deferring taxes is being used by seniors to support themselves and maintain their independence in their own homes. “I’m hopeful the reason we’re seeing this is that seniors recognize that they can use it to hire more help around the house,” she said. “It is very cost-effective. seniors who’ve paid taxes all their lives aren’t the problem.

the tens of thousands of tax evading scammers we let in every year are the problem.

it’s not about turning on citizens, it’s about stopping the subsidizing of home ownership. Let’s not forget that Vancouver has the lowest property taxes in Canada ( by far)! and one of the lowest in N. America. All this contributes to ever escalating prices.

The property tax deferral program is available to anyone over 55, many of whom are in their peak earning years, and anyone with a dependent child. Those with kids do pay a higher rate than the 55+. And remember there’s no means test of any kind.

Also, do you think retirees who’ve paid taxes outside BC all their working lives should get tax deferral on BC’s tab?
