What’s going on is that trump killed the company without banning it. You think it can ever recover it’s market?

It seems Van west side detached will continue to fall in price.

1690 Western Parkway, Vancouver, BC, V6T 1V3 University (UBC) Listing ID: R2376048

Bought in 2015 for $5,620,000, now listed for $5,587,000. The seller will lose money, even if a buyer found to pay the listing price.

The potential and kinetic energy of real estate.

Ever play darts on a wire ring board with stiff darts? Every now and then, usually after making a great shot in the bulls eye area, where the wire divisions are most clustered, the dart would hit the round wire and drop to the ground. Annoying, right?

So along comes an engineer and develops a dart that springs its needle back into the stem, building up potential energy and propelling it forward. Using these darts was especially advantageous since more often you get the Bullseye.

They had to ban this dart on the circuit for two years, until the board manufacturers developed an alternative sector divider, other than round wire (they still use metal, but it is much sharper, narrower… not round)

Ok, so they changed the Board. You don’t penalize innovation.

this is old news. builder has barely broken ground on the initial towers and it remains to be seen if (proposed) towers 3-10 ever get built. a lot has changed in the last 12, 18, 24 months or so since the initial marketing campaign kicked off.

How else scumbags could progress? How fucking else, if not locusting, stealing, cheating, destroying. Where is the end to Canadian nativity and stupidity?

Huawei was still a little-known Chinese manufacturer of communications equipment in 2009, when Nortel was in the midst of bankruptcy proceedings. Only later would Nortel’s former security adviser accuse Huawei of benefiting from years of Chinese hacking into the Canadian company’s systems and stealing confidential information.

“Making sense of Vancouver’s luxury condo market”, Vancouver Sun
https://vancouversun.com/business/local-business/making-sense-of-vancouvers-luxury-condo-market

“The glut in Vancouver’s luxury condo market has been getting some attention as their counterparts in London, New York and Sydney have also been losing their lustre.”

“In the presale category, projects have gone from instantly selling out to being cancelled after not being able to hit targets of just 50 per cent of their units sold.”

“Despite all of these trends, there remains a seemingly alternate universe of luxury projects and high-end highrises that are still being built.hese billion-dollar projects generally have a planning-to-completion timeline of between five and 10 years before their sales are finalized and the units are move-in ready, and observers say these developers obviously have a feeling that there will, eventually, again be buyers for these projects.

Australia’s central bank cuts key interest rate 0.25% to 1%

CANBERRA, Australia – Australia’s central bank cut its benchmark interest rate by a quarter of a percentage point on Tuesday to a record low of 1% in a bid to boost the economy.
The cut is the second in consecutive months. Previously the Reserve Bank of Australia had not shifted the rate in almost three years.

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Maybe you’ve heard they’ve stabilized, but a local realtor doesn’t think housing prices have bottomed out in Metro Vancouver.

Realtor Steve Saretsky says prices are still being negotiated lower, noting some developers are even cancelling projects.
RELATED: TD Bank’s B.C. forecast indicates decline in home prices will end in 2020

“Nobody notices if prices are declining, like, maybe half a per cent a month, right?” he says. “I mean, at the end of the year you’re down six per cent, so it’s like nobody really notices, it’s so hard to calculate.”

Saretsky adds while we’ve seen the largest drops in higher-end houses and condos, the downward trend has been seen in other condos as well.

He thinks the trend will likely continue over the coming months.

Everything you think about China is wrong.

The communist party maintains control of the public not by delivering economic success but by delivering the one thing that is most sought after by Chinese people. Pork. Economic development and growth are just the vehicle to deliver pork to the people.

Pork is so important to China that the country has a strategic pork reserve.

https://www.marketplace.org/2019/05/30/china-wants-to-stock-200000-tons-of-pork/

That’s why the current african swine flue, rising pork prices, and economic pressure (trade war) decreasing Chinese consumer’s buying power may represent the greatest threat China has ever faced. The possibility of economic, political, and social collapse resulting in wide spread or isolated cannibalism.

“Central banks are stoking the dangerous fire of inflation”, South China Morning Post

https://www.scmp.com/comment/opinion/article/3016579/central-banks-are-stoking-dangerous-fire-inflation

“Inflation has not gone away: it is there in disguise, in the shape of “asset” inflation rather than “current price” inflation. Real-estate values, like those of stock prices, have soared, and the only way that either asset class has remained affordable is the availability of low-cost borrowings. It is as though a monetary dragon is keeping its tail on the move only by chasing it with fire.”

Word is that the Greens plan to topple the NDP sometime in the winter. Possibly January.

They don’t see any benefit to going the full term because they would then be seen as a sidekick between the NDP and Greens.

Expect major policy divergence starting with ridesharing and escalating anger due to job losses in the construction sector. The public will also be livid after they see their icbc bills go up.

Let’s be honest, a one seat margin in a minority government does not a stable situation make. The odds of the government falling during any legislative session is quite high. The press and the public put the odds of stability far too high because there is no obvious ‘thing’ to take the government down right now. But we know ‘things’ come and go and we’re just one situation away from an election. The way I see it, this government is less likely to go full term than not. Horgan also has internal politics to deal with and we don’t see that stuff, but we know in a group like the NDP, there are all sorts of petty squabbles going on. With no margin to play with, Horgan doesn’t have as much power to crack the whip as he would like.… Read more »

“there is no obvious ‘thing’ to take the government down right now. ”

I think we would need a pretty big scandal for the Greens to take the government down before the election. The NDP have failed so miserably letting them carry on for 2.5 more years is the best chance the Greens have. The death of a thousand cuts. The Nanaimo election with most of the Green support going to the BC Liberals was enough of a message on what is going to happen during the next election to keep the Greens content.

Dave
Member

Don’t underestimate Plecas either. Watch him sink the government. I still think he’ll want to save face with his community for having propped up the NDP government just so he could be the centre of attention. There is no way he stays in that seat 2 years from now. More likely he’ll resign at some point out of ‘principle’.

This is a good lesson in power dynamics. You will often read that Xi has complete control of his party and China. While he may be the most powerful guy in China, he still has to answer to other powers. And look to what extent the Chinese are willing to go just to help the daughter of an important executive. They’re willing to risk trade relations with a major trading partner and a Country that nobody feuds with… just for one person. I wish we would escalate the situation back on them but Trudeau admires them too much to do that. We are a country of laws and this is a good learning opportunity for the Chinese. I don’t care what the cost is to us to teach them that lesson. If we set the tone the first time, we… Read more »

This is very simple.

U.S. exports to China account for 7.2% of overall U.S. exports in 2018
Chinese exports to US account for 19.2% of total Chinese exports in 2018

China needs to negotiate a deal. US wants to negotiate a deal IF certain conditions are met. What part are you confused about?

Confucius advocates for ruling through li – traditional customs, mores, and norms – which allow people to have a sense of shame and become humane people with good character, rather than through government regulations and penal law. The idea is that people will internalize the acceptable norms and only take proper actions…. It is worth noting, however, that even Confucius did not advocate for the elimination of formal laws. Rather, according to Confucius, laws should be used minimally and reserved only for those that insist on pursuing one’s self-interests without taking into account the well being of the society.

shame is an important concept to understand fully. guilt versus shame culture Shame is what we feel when we are caught doing something wrong. What is “wrong” emerges through cultural/social interactions and is typically associated with anti-social behavior, behaviors that will weaken the social network. The key here is that one does not feel bad about doing wrong if one is not caught doing it by anyone. It is important to do good in public, where everyone is watching you, but that doesn’t mean one has to do good in private, where nobody is watching you. Thus, in a shame culture, all generosity must be made as public and obvious as possible. People have to know you are being generous. The result is much more charity, if charity is seen as a good behavior. However, in a shame culture, you… Read more »
