Hundreds of pre-sale Richmond condo owners left hanging by developer

Ohh, cry me a fucking greedy river…

“My wife and I have been waiting for four years to close the house deal, but the message from the developer has left us saddened and frustrated,” Hsu told the Richmond News on Thursday. “If we bought other condos back at that time, the home value would have already doubled. “But the developer has suddenly terminated our contract and only refunded us the deposit and interest, which is unfair.”

>>> yes, but if these buyers actually spent a few minutes to read over disclosure statement from the onset, they should have known all along that there was some fine print outlining developer’s option to do precisely this. so, who know’s what happens next? maybe the co suing them is a bogus related entity? maybe this land will be flipped into another holding company? nevertheless, the buyers should consider this a done deal and get on with their ever so important lives…

These folks can easily afford to rent in Vancouver, and some even to own the property in better parts of LM.

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection watch commander at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach has admitted to running an illegal gun operation, authorities said.

Wei Xu, 56, of Santa Fe Springs was arrested Feb. 5 after an investigation involving undercover officers to whom Xu sold three guns out of the trunk of his car…creating a fake company to avoid paying taxes…making false statements to a federal agency about his involvement with a Chinese company to get a secret-level security clearance….

On October 20 the Security Intelligence Review Committee (SIRC), the government agency that oversees the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, issued its annual report. It devotes six pages to a joint RCMP-CSIS operation, Sidewinder, whose secret interim report, “Chinese Intelligence Services and Triads Financial Links in Canada,” was issued in 1997. This report was suppressed, and all copies were ordered destroyed, as were all background materials.

According to Sidewinder, Mr. Li (Li Ka-Shing) is a director of the Beijing-controlled China International Trust Investment Company (CITIC), which had 1997 assets of US$23 billion. CITIC owns or controls Cathay Pacific Airlines, Hong Kong Telecom, Star TV, Poly Technologies and Norinco, suspected of arms shipments to Mohawk reserves.

U.S. Agents Seize Smuggled Arms By JEFF LEEDS MARCH 15, 1997 Show Search ADVERTISEMENT Facebook Twitter Show more sharing options U.S. Agents Seize Smuggled Arms By JEFF LEEDS MARCH 15, 1997 12 AM TIMES STAFF WRITERS SAN DIEGO — U.S. border agents have seized two truckloads of military assault rifles and grenade launchers that were mysteriously smuggled into this country through the Port of Long Beach and were addressed to Mexico City, officials said. The Mexican consulate said diplomats have been told the ship with the contraband arms came from Asia. But U.S. officials declined to reveal the origin of the shipments, which contained thousands of parts of disassembled weapons, or what ship brought them to Long Beach. “We’re still doing old-fashioned police work, running down leads,” said John Mallamo, the U.S. Customs assistant special agent in charge of investigations… Read more »

“I thought the NDP had solved the housing problem. That 15% average rent increase across Metro Vancouver since the election is quite the accomplishment. The sad part is $60 per hour to afford a 2 bedroom rental in false creek is a fraction of what it takes to buy it. Vision and the NDP have been a disaster for housing.”

No the problem is not solved, although well meaning, they made it worse.

Had the Hillbillies remained in power, by now the whole thing would have flamed out.

The NDP is trying to engineer a soft landing.

Rents are currently falling.

False no matter how many times you say it. Rents are going up on a pace of 7% per year Metro Vancouver wide. Just look at the CMHC data. Vacancy is still at about 1%. Until that changes rents will continue to go up at 3 to 4 times inflation. The NDP have no plan.

Oracle

Pent up demand will build as developers shelve projects.

Population inflows continue.

Rents up 60% in Valley in last 3 years.

What’s the NDP plan?

Should you feel sorry for naive people who believe them?

YVR

“although well meaning, they made it worse”

It is hard to say whether they are completely incompetent or they don’t really want to solve housing. Probably both. There is too much tax revenue to lose just like with money laundering. Solving those issues means they have to cut spending or they have budget deficits. They are basically Liberals 2.0 on housing. You would think with rents spiraling out of control at 3 to 4 times inflation since the election they would actually do something. Where is Eby? Remember all those press conferences on housing before the election. Now they guy can’t be found.

People really don’t have a choice in political parties anymore.

If word gets out that NDP is lying with regards to housing and rents, then Liberals will win.

Remember those portables that were built to house the homeless in surrey? Well about 10 people a day are moving into the area and are homeless. The problem was never solved. It’s getting bigger.

If Liberals win housing slump will inevitably become worse, right?

Oracle
Guest
Oracle

FFS, the liberals openly did what they did. The NDP is manipulating the dumb to the same end.

The periphery of metro Vancouver is basically unaffordable now. Those renting in vancouver proper have no hope of even commuting.

They did when the NDP got elected. They allowed strata to keep skyrocketing in price.

Oracle
Guest
Oracle

Hence they lose the next election. Just one riding needs to flip and it will come via voter apathy.

Voters vote for the hope NDP provided last election.

They will not vote out of fear mongering the next.

I’m afraid another 16 years in the backwater coming for the NDP.

Election sooner than you think. Greens are scheming right now. Maybe right after the federal election.

Laibach

If you are right housing slump will then accelerate?

Oracle

He NDP had 2.5 years to solve the housing situation.

They have maximum 1.5 years left OR LESS. They missed their opportunity.

All Liberals need to win is take back one single seat. And I know many people who voted NDP last election who are sick of empty promises. Especially south of the Fraser.

Good luck.

It’s official. We now know the cause of the runup in prices from 2015.

Metro Vancouver accepted 35,000 permanent immigrants and 90,000 temp immigrants last pear as per Todd Douglass.

So basically population grows by 125,000 per year.

And another 90,000 new students will arrive next month. Watch rents.

And no. They don’t leave. They got open ended work permits now.

It must be so infuriating that no one here gets what you are saying.

Fortunately wages are very high and high paying jobs are plenty in Vancouver.

“Renters would need to make $35.43 hourly wage to afford two-bedroom apartment in Vancouver: new report. As you move downtown, the wages hit more staggering levels, where North False Creek requires more than $60 per hour; South False Creek is over $50; and Downtown North is over $49. For comparison, toney West Vancouver/Dundarave sits at $48.76 per hour.”

This trade war could not have come at a worse time for China. Manufacturing costs were already increasing to the point companies were starting to look elsewhere, so these tariffs are the final straw in many instances.

nope. china has set their meat hooks into neighbouring ASEAN regions in a big way and is already using them as conduits for this very reason (not unlike greek backdoor into EU). trump will have to impose tariffs on much of the planet to stop china.

No I’m not talking about creatures in some 1950’s B-movie; I’m talking about cockroaches. But like most movies (even “The Attack of the 50-Foot Cockroach”) yours can have a happy ending. If you try to get rid of cockroaches but they keep coming back—you, like a movie hero, need to change your methods to win.”
